The world is running out of chocolate so we launched Cacao Tea.

littleinnovationsl

We just launched a new product in our brewing cacao range: Cacao Tea.

What is Cacao Tea?

Cacao Tea is very similar to our original Cacao Brew. It’s brewed in the same way in your cafetiere, and it smells similarly chocolatey.

But rather than being made from ground whole nibs, Cacao Tea is the husk of the cacao bean. Just like you might use loose tea leaves, you can steep cacao husk for a wonderful ‘chocolate-fragranced-tea’ like drink, that will give you a gentle lift.

There’s no denying, with our whole-nib Cacao Brew, the resulting ‘tea’ is certainly a little richer, and more full-bodied in flavour. It's our original product and we still love it. You also can’t reuse what’s left inside your cafeteria after brewing, like you can with cacao brew. Soggy cacao husks aren’t an obvious addition to granola and brownie recipes. For many Cacao tea won’t replace Cacao Brew.

But for others, Cacao Tea is the perfect drink.

Cacao Tea still gives you plenty of theobromine. The wonderful chemical that gives you gentle energy but unlike caffeine won’t leave you feeling empty and low. And whilst Cacao Brew only had a trace of caffeine, those looking to remove caffeine entirely from their diet will be pleased to hear that Cacao Tea is 100% caffein-free (as opposed to 98.5% caffein-free!).

Great value and sustainable.

You might have noticed cacao and everything that contains cacao is going up in price. The rise in cacao prices is largely due to a global cacao shortage. Climate change-induced drought has ravaged crops in West Africa, which contributes around 80% of the world's cocoa output. According to the International Cocoa Organization, global cocoa supply will decline by almost 11% over 2024.

As a small business, we have had to increase the price of Cacao Brew. However with Cacao Tea, because it uses an ingredient considered a by-product of chocolate making can be delivered for a slightly lower price than Cacao Brew with many of the same benefits. Let’s not let Mother Nature’s precious bounty go to waste.

For now we decide to give people the option to try both Cacao Tea and Cacao Brew and see which works for them.

Let us know if you’ve tried Cacao Tea and how you like to enjoy it in your daily routine!
